Istanbul Day 3

My 3rd Day in Istanbul (see Day 1 & Day 2) was full of amazing frescoed domes and ceilings...

and beautiful mosaics at Chora Church...

In such a small space crammed with lots of people was such an uplifting sense of faith, beauty and enlightenment.

We also took a boat trip on the Bhospohorus in the glorious sunshine....

Mosque & an island tower that featured in a James Bond film...

 Palaces and Bridges....

Mansions & Ginormous flags in the wind...

and then we visited the Hagia Sophia which was once a Greek Orthodox Church & an Imperial Mosque and is now a Museum, compete with lots of scaffolding....

Intricate mosaics....

 and painted walls & domes....

 Beautiful streams of light...

I loved the scaffolding so foreboding with chinks of light dancing off it, it was like a huge sculpture imposing on this huge sacred space (and it looked like it had been there ages)....

and a view of the Blue Mosque from a small top window.

1 last day of adventures to follow!
