Friday Illustration: Baby Weighing

This week I've been having a spring clean sort out and came across lots of old National Geographic Magazine. They're full of inspiring images from around the world & universe and this Friday Illustration is based on one of them. A photo from Afghanistan of a baby being weighed; Afghan babies are kept tightly swaddled for their first year and tradition says that it helps with good posture.

Friday Illustration (on a Thursday): Year of the Ram

Happy Chinese New Year! In celebration of the fact that it's Chinese New Year today, my Friday weekly illustration comes early this week to celebrate the Year of the Ram (Goat/Sheep)!

My illustration features a Ram wearing a horn crown of primroses & carnations, which are lucky flowers for people born in a Ram Year and the Chinese character for the earthly branch symbol wei which is associated with the Year of the Ram.

I'm celebrating tonight with a feast of tofu noodles with water chestnuts & some Tsingtao beer!

新年快乐

Just finished reading Patricia Highsmith's 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and thought it deserved a little friday illustration treatment, so here's Tom Ripley becoming Dickie Greenleaf.

We've had some deep deep snow for the past couple of weeks & while it starts out being amazingly beautiful and wonderous, pretty soon it's dirty snow, you're slipping and sliding over the pavements, you're fingers are cold all the time, you haven't got the right shoes....etc but there's some great songs to get you through it too, here's my 'Winter Snow' playlist:-

Friday Illustration: Lost Time

Here's an illustration I did for Society 6's latest submission zine 'Lost Time', you can see whose work was chosen here. Mine is about wasting time looking out the window worrying about bad things that could come along instead of getting on with the present.
