Friday Illustration: Russian Literature

This week I had a bit of a Russian Literature week, I saw Anna Karenina at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, watched the film Onegin and the Dr. Zhivago mini series and started reading it too. Full of powerful women, snowy forests, great hats, interiors, trains, beautiful churches, folk embroidery and rosy cheeks.

Friday Illustration: Partial Solar Eclipse

I love a good celestial event, so make sure you dont miss the partial solar eclipse this morning when the moon will move (partially!) in front of the sun and can be seen across the North Atlantic. In the UK it will begin at 8.45am and with its peak at 9.30am and will finish about 10.40am. I remember the 1999 solar eclipse, we were in France and made a pinhole thing to see it with. Hopefully it's not too cloudy as the next partial one (to be seen from the UK) isn't until 2026 and the next total solar eclipse wont be until 2090, which I'm unlikely to be around for!

Friday Illustration: Advanced Style - Carol Markel

I love the blog Advanced Style which is full of amazingly individually stylish older people and I found Carol Markel through it. She's an artist, milliner & necklace maker based in New York, who loves colour, pattern, art, travelling and france.

Her blog Femme & Fleur is one of my new favourites full of travel, art, parties, exhibitions, making, fashion & people.

Friday lllustration: Boring Marathon

I started running a little while ago and the NHS Couch to 5k app has really helped, I can now for half an hour, (which doesn't sound like much, but when I had trouble running for even a minute in October it's amazing yay!) So I liked this news story I saw this week of an Ultra Marathon of 31 miles in Hong Kong being run over 25 laps of the same stretch of road. Ultra Dizzying!

March Playlist: Film & TV

The Oscars seems like ages ago now, and overall it was a bit rubbish, but the best thing about it was the song 'Glory' by John Legend & Common, (which won best original song), see the video again here. So this months playlist is all songs from Film & TV. Some amazingly powerful, some amazingly cheesy & hilarious but all invoke beautifully powerful inspirational emotions that can only be achieved through music & lyrics, whether it be humor, laughter, love, power, strength or even time travel, sung by Common or Angela Lansbury.

Do you recognise which Film/TV show some of them come from?
