While winter in the UK can be a bit gruelling sometimes it also gives you beautiful moments like these fleeting moments of sunshine through pastel clouds & bare silhouetted trees, even lampposts & electricity wires become an interesting forefront focus.

Horniman Museum & Gardens

While I was in London a few weeks ago I visited the Horniman Museum & Gardens on a crisp, sunny, wintery morning.

Before I even visited the museum I saw their new branding & identity by Hat-trick featured over on the Creative Review blog and loved it. Really clever, simple and effective, it just needs to be rolled out all across the museum to make it a consistent brand and information identifier.

These looked so beautiful and yet so sad at the same time, colourful birds caged and stuffed forever when they once could soar the skies to their hearts delights.

It's a beautiful little natural history & anthropology museum with some great objects, but it was a bit like a mother & toddler morning when we went and great yum yums in the cafe!

London in December

Went to London the other weekend saw the Thames all lit up from Royal Festival Hall,

A stripy rudolph in Covent Garden,

Pretty lights on the Southbank,

A power-it-yourself (by bike or hand pedals) Xmas tree,

Big Ben all lit up, 

Huge paper chains in Liberty, 

Thousands of M&M's & related paraphernalia in Leicester Square (& a glimpse of the 'Life of Pi' film premiere)

Abbey road M&M's,

Japanese Netsuke at the V&A...

including ones of bean pods, 

Amazing ramen at Shoryu Ramen on Regent Street,

Green tea from a lil teapot at Shoryu Ramen, 

and a beautiful conservatory at the Horniman Museum.

Interior details

  

  

I love interiors and while I don't have a lot of space, light, budget or storage to emulate some of the amazingly beautiful interiors that can be found on my interior design pinterest board or in my have interiors mag "World of Interiors" there can be gems found in the smallest details. A rock that brings back memories of a faraway beach, tiny space postcards, a braun clock, a paper elephant from NYC, a bronze decorated flask from my dad's travels, wooden bowls holding odds and ends, a piece of mosaic wall from Barcelona, a garland from a night out, an inspiration wall and books, lots & lots of books.

Felix Baumgartner: Mission to the edge of space

Space, planets, stars, the cosmos it all fills me with such fascination, wonderment and makes the human race & our little earth so small and yet so precious.

So when I caught the live footage of Felix Baumgartner's highest ever skydive from 'the edge of space' I couldn't stop catching the amazing images from the patchwork fields to the inflating balloon, the first glimpse of space & the earth when he opened the door to the extreme free fall and relief of hearing those first words to reaffirm his survival on the way down; So I made a little gif to commemorate this special mission to the edge of space!

London Spring Sights

 

I've just had a trip to London and I encountered eggs in Covent Garden

maps by Alighiero Boetti at Tate Modern, 

 flowers by Fernando Casasempere at Somerset House,

the world's first prehistoric sculptures of dinosaurs and

a rusty laptop amphitheatre in Crystal Palace Park,

lots of spots by Yayoi Kusama at Tate Modern 

and an abundance of HP props including amazing graphic design work by Miraphora Mina and co. at Leavesden Studios.
